Meet Angelo Kornecki, Technical Director Redmill Advance

June 15, 2019 1:04 pm

As Technical Director at Redmill Advance my responsibilities are wide-ranging from supporting our fantastic team of trainers to offering a helping hand to students from time to time when they need it. I also have the responsibility of writing our digital exam products and either personally write or oversee the writing of our ever-increasing range of exam support materials. That aside I am a Chartered Financial Planner and a qualified university lecturer holding a Post Graduate Certificate in Education P.G.C.E. I also own a Financial Advice business which gives us a unique perspective on what it takes to run a financial planning business, something we ensure filters back to our learning materials – we don’t just teach you how to pass exams, we teach you some practical lessons in what it means to be a financial adviser.

Where it all started

I joined financial services a few years after leaving university and spent time at a well-known high street bank and a local IFA before venturing into business. I have always had a passion for financial education which led me to set up AKORN Education a financial services training company that was acquired by Redmill Advance in early 2021. I had been working with Redmill Advance since 2019 and the acquisition and appointment to Technical Director was a very organic process for all parties.

Something you won’t know about me is that my twin brother has a doctorate in Psychology, I only mention it as he has been and continues to be a source of fantastic information and resource on the psychology of learning, something that you will find incorporated in my learning style and in Redmill products. We don’t just bombard you with technical information, we teach you how to actually learn through tried and tested methods. Outside of work I love most sports, playing golf (badly), playing the bass guitar, singing (in a band) and spending time with my wife and daughter. I love a wide range of music but can often be found listening to some pretty heavy bands…don’t judge me!

Your time is precious, my goal is to save you some!

My goal in writing technical materials is to ensure we cut straight to the core of what you need to know. We condense materials into weekly chunks of learning and focus on essential content but without losing any of the important syllabus information you need to know for exam success. We do this in our study manuals, interactive e-learning modules, technical video snippets, tutor-led recordings, and our classroom events. Of course, we wrap all of this into exam testing to consolidate your weekly learning and full mock exams for end of programme learning offering instant pass / fails with feedback on each question.

Ultimately we feel a lack of time should not be any barrier to your personal or professional development and we ensure all our programmes are designed with this in mind.

We have helped thousands of students achieve results

I love my role in Redmill and feel privileged to be a part of a company whose learning products have reached thousands of students globally. We work with some of the largest financial services organisations in the UK, Europe, and further afield. We have the privilege of supporting clients in their large scale academy programmes such as the SJP Academy, a partnership that gives us the opportunity to work with many hundreds of new industry recruits each year supporting SJP exclusively to upskill these recruits to level 4 and help them become advisors. All of this means I am part of a company that is truly helping to shape and influence our industry and I love every single minute of it.
